At 5am on Dec. 24, 2009 North Brunswick Fire was dispatched to building 24 of the NB manor apts for reports of smoke and fire.  Chief 200 arrived on scene and transmitted a 2nd alarm for heavy fire throughout the 2nd floor and through the roof extending to the adjoining building.  E-205 arrived and secured a water supply and stretched a 2 1/2 to protect the nearby exposure.  T- 3 arrived and set up the stick and got water from E-105's supply line.  Operations were hampered by water supply problems on the main.  Command made the call to the water dept to have the pumps turned up to combat this problem.  New Brunswick L-1 and E-1 arrived and set up on the B exposure which was now involved through the attached roof.  Crews attempted to make a stop from the interior by pulling the ceilings but were pulled out due to heavy fire involved in the truss roof.  After the fire was knocked down from the ladder pipes crews moved in to overhaul.  The state Division of fire safety K-9 unit was called in due to the fact that the heavy fire conditions on arrival and the fact that the origin was in a different apt. then the fire the previous night.
